“Re-think that Sneaky Drink” will see any minor detected inside a pub or club attempting to enter or having entered unlawfully and attempting to obtain liquor will be barred until the age of 19-years.
The new 2017/2018 terms are now being imposed by all GLA venues.
GLA coordinator and Prince of Wales licensee and owner, Rowena Ellis said, “The idea has been discussed for the past 12 months and all venues have now agreed to implement the strategy within the terms”.
Significant penalties including possible 12 months imprisonment and suspended license apply to staff and venues if they sell alcohol to a minor within licensed venues.
“The consequences are very serious and we need to do everything we can to prevent underage drinking within our premises,” Ms Ellis said.
“We will advertise the new terms through different media to ensure everyone knows the consequences as it will have a major impact on the social lives of newly turned 18-year-olds,” she continued.
“Please tell your kids, friends and family to not attempt to purchase alcohol prior to their 18th birthday as we really don’t want anyone on the barred list.”
