Rylstone and Kandos News

Dog Show

The Rylstone Showground resembled a tent city last weekend when hundreds of people established their home for their pets and themselves.

Perfect weather, great location and catering by Rotary helped and with three show rings in operation the organisers and judges were busy.

The dogs had a great time being pampered, brushed and groomed to perfection.

The handlers proudly trotted their dogs around an enclosure while the judges made their difficult decisions.

Judge Jan Seary said,

“The Rylstone Dog Show was well organised, with an excellent quality of dogs overall and was run under the auspices of Dogs NSW.

One family travelled from the Gold Coast.”

The most successful dog of the three shows, winning two, Best in Show and runner up in the third was Elvis.

Actually his title is, Australian Champion, Junior Croation Champion Kan Trace, “ Born to be a Rock Star”.

Elvis is a Petite Basset Griffon Vendeen.

Kandos Library Busy.

Kandos Library was a bustling community when children arrived for the ten o’clock story time and the eleven o’clock craft activity.

With a wonderful atmosphere in amongst the books, the children and parents settled down while Anne Haysom read to them.

Twelve attended last Friday, seated on chairs and cushions.  Anne Haysom said, “We average about twelve listeners for the story telling each week”.

These events are on every Friday with a small charge for craft materials.

Rylstone Buskers

A busy Saturday morning in Louee Street, Rylstone, was brightened by buskers entertaining the coffee crowd and long weekend visitors.

With Rollie Mac on sax and recorder, Dharma on lap steel, Doug McCabbin, guitar and Peter Foerster, guitar and vocals, the unnamed group performed for an appreciative audience.

Although the monetary reward was small the event was very great sounding success.
