The government says motorists could save hundreds of dollars at the bowser by using the app.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Finance Minister Victor Dominello and Innovation Minister Matt Kean launched the app on Wednesday.

“This new app is a game changer for motorists and enables them to find the best deal by price, location, fuel type and brand,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“By giving motorists a bird’s-eye view of the market they can find the cheapest fuel anywhere in the state, providing them with much needed relief at the hip pocket.” 

Mr Dominello said the app includes all of the popular FuelCheck website functions with multiple exciting new features to make finding the best value for money even easier.

Mr Kean said the FuelCheck website has had over 2.6 million visits since August 2016.

Mr Dominello said: “The app includes a Favourite Stations function, which allows users to save their favourite petrol stations and receive a notification when the petrol reaches their chosen price,” Mr Dominello said.

“A My Trip function utilises Google Maps to enable users to find the cheapest petrol station on their journey and direct them to the station.”

Mr Kean said the app also includes a Trends page, which shows the cheapest day of the week to fill up and the day’s price range.

“Since its launch in August 2016, the FuelCheck website has had over 2.6 million visits and 95 per cent of reviews have been incredibly positive,” Mr Kean said.

If the price at the pump does not match what is shown on the app, motorists can make a complaint directly to NSW Fair Trading.
