Local players will contest the shortest-form of the game in four teams – Hurricanes, Strikers, Thunder and Super Kings. With the first match set for 5pm on Friday, November 3, at Cahill Park.

Registrations will be taken at the Woolpack Hotel 5.30pm Friday afternoon, October 27.

Woolpack Hotel T20 Big Bash organiser Ben Reynolds said it’s about addressing player unavailability and that the format has lured some back to the sport.

“The concept behind this was the fact that cricket in general is struggling, a lot of guys have family and work commitments,” he said. “We’ve got past players coming back as well, which is a positive, for example Daniel Stoddart who hasn’t played for about 10 years.”

The Woolpack’s Jamie Fitzgerald said that they’re on board because what the format offers and integrates players’ families. “It’s a great initiative, it’s taken off in Sydney and it’ll be good for regional areas too,” he said. “It’s the future of cricket, a lot of sports struggle to get players but cricket has modified itself to address this.”
