Young athletes from Mudgee went up against their counterparts from across NSW at the Primary Schools Sports Association Athletics Championship – and came home with gold.

Students from public, catholic and independent schools converged on Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre to compete for the state titles last week.
Mudgee was well represented with a number of students drawn from the town’s three primary schools.
Including Alesha Bennetts, who can lay claim to the title of fastest 12 years girl over 100m in NSW, after taking out the gold medal with a time of 12.73s.
Furthermore, she also won the silver medal in the 200m final (26.26s).
And has now qualified for the Pan Pacific games/Nationals to be held in Adelaide in December.
Alesha also placed fifth in the 12/13 Girls Long Jump (4.63m).
And was a member of the St Matthew’s Catholic School Senior Girls 4 x 100m Relay team.
Many of the local students were also flying the flag for Mudgee Little A’s at the titles, getting the chance to compete at the historic Homebush Olympic Park precinct on the synthetic surface in front of a massive crowd.
