Tee Ball and Junior Softball has a good crop of youngsters having a go at a sport which is new to them, but not so new to their parents.
Many of the parents who are now bringing their children down to Mudgee’s West End Fields on Saturday mornings did the same when they were youngsters.
Mudgee Softball Association started games in 1977 at the Showground and the High School and has since gone on to be one of the premier country organiations.
Along with Orange and Wagga Wagga, Mudgee Softball has been successfully involved in the NSW Softball Association’s championships for 40 years.
Mudgee won a Division 2 title in the 1980s and has had a number of state representatives, from Tracey Gawthorne and Nicci Golden during that same decade through to Jahymi Dowel, Bria Toohey and Matt Sprigg in more recent years.
And Mudgee Softball Association won the NSW Softball Country Affiliate of the Year award in 2013.
Players wishing to register for Tee Ball or Softball for the 2017-18 season can still do so on Saturday mornings from 9am at West End. And the canteen offering egg and bacon rolls, juice, water, tea and coffee, to those in attendance.
A local adults and Under 18s competition is only viable if there are 10 or more players turning up to play each Saturday.
This would be starting at 12.30pm.
Players are welcome to come along and have a look but fees should be paid by Round 4, which is on Saturday, November 4.
The Softball season is summer based, from late October to through to late March.
