POLICE are investigating the circumstances of a young girl’s drowning at the Orange Aquatic Centre on Saturday.
About 3.35pm on Saturday emergency services were called to city’s pool on Hill Street after a four-year-old girl was found motionless in a pool.
Attempts to revive the child were made by family and lifeguards on scene before she was taken to Orange hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Police from Canobolas Local Area Command have commenced an investigation into the incident and are speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage.
Speaking to the Central Western Daily on Saturday evening, Orange City Council spokesman Nick Redmond said the pool would be closed on Sunday.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
