Police from Orana Local Area Command, in partnership with Dubbo Regional Council, Fire & Rescue NSW, the Rural Fire Service (RFS), NSW Ambulance, Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA), and Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) will be conducting the exercise at Dubbo Airport starting at 6pm (Saturday 2 December 2017).
This will be a significant joint operation aimed at testing the capabilities of responding emergency services to deal with a major disaster, should it occur at the airport
The exercise will be a culmination of extensive planning that has been undertaken by members of Dubbo's emergency services, Dubbo Regional Council, and the police.
Those who live, work and visit Dubbo can take a level of comfort in the knowledge that we do have plans, but more importantly, we test them to make sure they work.
We continually review our emergency plans and this exercise is part of the review process.
Following the exercise we look at where we can improve our response and adjust our plans accordingly, to protect lives and property should a real event occur in the future.
Members of the public that may be near the airport on Saturday night, will notice significant activity of police and emergency services in the area, but should be assured that it is an exercise only.
