The North West Falcons head into the 2018 football season, celebrating their fifth anniversary as a club.

The Gulgong-based club was founded in late 2013, and kicking off in 2014 with a ladies team. The first men’s side took to the field in 2015.

"The Falcons pride themselves as being a very diverse club with age, nationality and objectives. Some players want to participate for fun and fitness, whilst others play to be the best they can," vice-president Greg Lillyst said.

“This year see men’s team captain-coach, Joe Peters, take the reins. The Englishman from Harrogate is accompanied by two other Brits, in James Rogers and Andy Fotheringham.

"The British connection as well as a few Irishmen in the club, take their football very serious and will see us right with our competitiveness."

NWFFC will field teams in the Dubbo and District Football Association, in the Ladies competition, as well as the third and fourth grade all age men’s competition.

A record 40 teams will participate in the DDFA comp, up from 34 teams in 2017.

This year's competition is expected to kick off after the Easter long weekend.
