Maurice Gaudry accosted Ned in the front room of the museum before finding out the larger than life size figure of Ned is made of tin and is the creation of Sandy Jackson.
Walking through the museum you can see the progress that has been made since my last post. In the courtyard, taking up one full wall is a Holtermann photograph of Canadian Lead in 1872.
The toilet block is now completed with a covered walkway from the main building. The brickies are completing the brickwork on the final building backing on to Robinson Street.
The official opening is envisaged for the end of the year.
Gulgong commercial hotel patrons helping with the funding
The community of Gulgong always pulls together when there is a need and this is no exception. The patrons of the Commercial Hotel are building a “Wall of Silver” out of 50 cent coins to help with the funding of the Holtermann Museum. Kim Honeysett, owner of the Hotel said it was a patron’s idea.
They also have a book table where the community can drop off old unwanted books for sale. There is another patron who brings in vegetables each week for sale on a table outside the hotel. Kim and husband Andy have already donated a great deal of money to the Holtermann Museum.
Kim said “Because of our business commitments we are unable to physically help the volunteers so this is our way of contributing”.
Gulgong Public School News
National Day of Action Against Bullying On Friday we joined over 2200 other schools across NSW to show that Bullying will not be tolerated at Schools.
Our students have been working in class over the last two weeks and will continue to in the future to ensure that Gulgong is a Bully Free Zone.
Miss Quayle’s class have done posters and Mrs Wilson’s class put together a bullying PowerPoint for our assembly last Friday.
As a school we then went on the school oval and spelt out the word NO to show that we say no to Bullies at GPS. Thank you to all the staff and students for making Friday an enjoyable day for all.
