The Woolpack T20 Bash – Mudgee’s first stand-alone Twenty20 competition – rounded out their debut season under lights at Victoria Park on Friday evening.
And it was the Super Kings who reigned supreme in the four-team competition, putting the Thunder to the sword.
Then on Saturday at Vic Park, the Paragon Tigers comfortably romped home to defeat Carpet Court by 10 wickets – and in just over 10 overs – in the Mudgee and District Cricket Association First Division decider.
Carpet Court were all out for 91 with the only resistance coming from James Fisher’s 40, with Gaurav Sharma (18) and Cody Lawson (12) the only others to hit double figures.
Andrew Best ripped through the top order, with 3-7 off 10 overs, his three scalps being the two openers and first-drop.
With Adam Callaghan (3-16), Seaton Croake (3-21), and Brian O’Reilly (1-12) continuing the demolition.
Best then lead the way with the bat, posting 57 n.o, and along with Hayden Cox (35 n.o), the Paragon openers reeled in the target without loss in just 11 overs.
Meanwhile at Walkers Oval, Home Decor dispensed with Woolpack to claim the Mudgee and District Cricket Association Second Division title.
Batting first, Woolpack posted 153, with Brady Stewart top-scoring with 39.
A number of his team mates made starts but just didn’t go on with it, the next best being 21 from Steven McGrath.
Steve McKenzie (2-32), Andy Fotheringham (2-20), Andy Shockman (1-14) and Eddie Soysa (1-21) picked apart the top order.
Before Mark Drewe took 3-8 off of 2.4 overs to clean up the tail.
The Home Decor chase got off to a shaky start, before Soysa helped steady the ship with his 43.
Shockman retired with 53 n.o, before Josh Barbender 30 n.o and Matt Nutley (7 n.o) steered them home for a six-wicket victory in 33 overs.
