The Link Program, which is sponsored by Glencore Coal and operates with the assistance of TAFE Western, offers year 10 students the opportunity for work experience at a variety of Mudgee businesses.
Mr Hundy spends one day each week learning the mechanics’ trade at Gladstone Street Mechanical Services, working under the guidance of business owner Dave Harris, who has supported the Link Program for a number of years.
2017 was a successful year for the Link Program, with 23 students undertaking the program with the majority of these students completing approximately 200 hours of work experience and gaining a Certificate II level qualification through TAFE NSW.
Of those students nine have already gained employment for 2018, 11 have returned to school to continue theirs studies, two are doing courses at TAFE and one student is engaged in a school-based traineeship with a local café.
