The representatives gained entry by finishing in the top six at least once throughout the six statewide qualifying events.
The competitors travelling to Port Macquarie range from under 7s boys to over 35s men, with a first, second and third winner to emerge from each group.
Headlining the Mid-Western contingent is prolific female rider Meghan Rutledge who Mudgee Dirt Bikes’ secretary Alison Doyle touted as one to keep an eye out for.
“She’s a very talented rider and she’s a very good chance at Port Macquarie,” Doyle said.
“It’s wonderful that such a high quality rider is representing Mudgee.
The event that Rutledge has her eyes on is the ‘Queen of MX’ event, a $10,000 race that decides the best female rider throughout the whole event.
The same prize will also be on offer for the men as there are a pair of 10K cheques on offer after the event has concluded.
Despite being one of Mudgee’s smaller clubs, Doyle says the passion makes up for the lack of numbers.
AREC is used to host Mudgee’s six club events throughout the year which act as tools for the locals to fine tune their riding for bigger events like the one at Port Macquarie.
“We have some very enthusiastic young boys at our club and Alix Dray a young girl, is also competing so that’s excellent,” she said.
“We have six rounds this year and it’s good practice for them.
“People come here from places like Dubbo and Sydney and all over the place to ride. We have a unique style of track.”
