The game was defined by the Hawks’ forward pack as its sheer size and power was too much for Mudgee to handle, making what seemed like 20 metres every time a big boy carted up the ball.
While injuries don’t help, Mudgee’s Jack Beasley, who accounted for eight of his side’s 12 points on Sunday, commended the Hawks’ entire outfit.
“It’s not just [Hawks’] big boys, they’ve got good ball movement too. They get that roll on then shift it around really well. We’re low on troops, but they’re a good side and deserved to win that game,” Beasley said.
“We are young, so hopefully we can keep learning how to go with these bigger sides, it’s all experience.”
The Red V will be relieved to return to Glen Willow for a round 10 meeting with Blayney but after the Bears only just fell to Panthers on the weekend, it will be another challenging fixture for Ben Gregory’s men.
We are young, so hopefully we can keep learning how to go with these bigger sides, it’s all experience.
