MId-Western Regional Council recently received a $20,000 Australian Government grant through the Building Better Regions Fund – Community investment stream.
Member for Calare Andrew Gee, who made Monday’s announcement, said the initiative will aim to promote opportunity and improvement among young businesspeople.
“The summit will focus on supporting young entrepreneurs in our regional communities and fostering economic growth,” Mr Gee said.
“It will also provide the opportunity to share business start-up knowledge and help budding entrepreneurs form connections with mentors.”
Mid-Western Regional Mayor Des Kennedy said the summit will support both young entrepreneurs start their own business or taking over a family business.
“It will focus on under 30s who are seeking direction and inspiration on how to grow their business or develop their ideas by providing the skills and knowledge from business leaders,” Cr Kennedy said.
“With a large number of small family businesses operating in our region including farms, wineries and tourism operations, the session will further support those young people preparing to be successors.
“The summit will benefit the wider region well into the future and we thank the Australian Government for its commitment.”
Successful projects for round two of the infrastructure stream will be announced in the near future.
