Thursday was the hottest July day in Gulgong and the second hottest at the Mudgee Airport weather station, as an air stream from the centre of the country raised temps across the state.

The Gulgong Post Office weather station recorded 23°C, clearing the previous record for the location of 22.4°C set last year, 1994 and 1975.
In Mudgee the mercury peaked at 22°C in the mid-afternoon, which was eight degrees above the average for the month in the town.
The hottest local July day record remained in tact though, that is still the 23.6°C reached on the 30th last year. Although that benchmark was set at what would’ve been at the warmer end of the month.
According to Weatherzone a stream of air flowing over NSW from central Australia caused temperatures to climb five to nine degrees above average across most of the state on Thursday.
The warm air will linger over northern, central and eastern NSW into Friday, although a cooler southwesterly change will flush the heat out of the state by the weekend.
