2018 marks the 50th season of existence for the club and while it’s been a prosperous year on the footy field, green and golds are looking to pitch in behind the scenes through the initiative.
Visitors to Cahill Park will have ample opportunity to chip in towards the foundation while watching some of the best up and coming stars the central west has to offer.
Most of the Dragons juniors are in the mix for finals footy so there’ll be no lack of competition on the day.
The under 10s hold down a spot in fourth position while the under 11s are in third. The under 12s are perhaps the shining light, topping the ladder in its competition while the 13s are second but could finish as high as first if things pan out their way.
Even the under 14s, who are on the outside looking in, could sneak into the top five if results go their way over the next fortnight. The 15s are also primed for a finals berth as they sit in fourth.
“To have all our competition sides within reach of the finals is pretty exciting for the club,” MJRL secretary James Hughes said.
“Our 50th year has been has been pretty special and all the kids have played well and in good spirit in the special green and gold strip.”
“For us, we’re trying to help develop model citizens through the game of Rugby League so to see all of the teams both showing they can win games, but also bounce back from times of adversity – it’s really exciting to see.”
The Minis kick-off first on Saturday at 9am, with the first of the competition games starting from 10am at Cahill Park.
