Emma Ashford’s Tiaratahs will send ten league tag players to Bathurst for the inaugural fixture in a rare 80-minute match on Saturday August 4 at Bathurst’s Carrington Park.
Emma Ashford:
Fast, fast and fast. Tied for the league’s top try scorer and has an uncanny ability to lead a side around the park. She’s the coach off the field and does a lot of the leading on it too. Is almost always good for at least one four-pointer.
Clare Warton:
Has been labelled by her teammates as the best defender on the team. Not only can she make tags, she’s super fast off the mark and can hit a hole.
Jessica Hundy:
A hard-working defender who’s always going to give 100 percent from marker and plays an important role in keeping the defensive line structured.
Paige Gallagher:
Versatile and tough. Paige might not have a wealth of experience but is always looking to improve her game and can slot in at multiple positions. Can always be relied on to work for the girl next to her and has the ability to take control of the game as well.
Ella Dann:
Labelled rookie of the year by her teammates, Ella Dan is reliable in defence and can break the line.
Michelle Fulwood:
Michelle’s playing style matches up with a lot of her teammates – she can be relied on and never lacks effort in defence.
Carlee Vanderhaar:
Straight and hard is Carly’s mentality and it’s paid off this season. Her running style has led to several line breaks and always sees her looming up in support. She’s also got slick hands and seldom drops the ball.
Angie Usher:
She calls the shots on the field and puts in more work than just about anyone. A lot of the team’s game-planning centres around her.
Alex Knihinicki:
Alex’s boot has served his side well as she’s got the longest kicking game in the Tiaratahs’ squad. Not only that, she’s the safest under a high ball and can often be found laying out for a desperation tag.
Ebany Pateman:
A player who can run fast for a long distance. Pateman has saved plenty of tries in defence after mowing down opposition ball carriers. A well-rounded player who contributes both in attack and defence.
The East vs. West league tag game will kick-off at 2.30pm on Saturday before the men’s fixture commences at 4.30.
The New-Era Midwest Cup presentation will follow the game.
