Mark, who is a well known local and Wilpinjong employee, has spent the past nine years living in Mudgee with his wife and three children and said he applied for a job with Fire and Rescue NSW to help his community.
“In 2006, I decided to apply for a position with Fire and Rescue NSW (then NSW Fire Brigades) because the job looked both rewarding and challenging. It has been one of the greatest things I have done,” he said.
Mudgee Fire Station responds to over 200 emergencies every year, and is home to a Hazmat Tanker that supports many stations right across the region and beyond at hazardous materials and chemical spills. With a crew of eighteen firefighters, and a guaranteed response of six firefighters 24 hours per day, seven days per week, Mark undoubtedly has a challenging task ahead of him.
“I’m really looking forward to working with the crew to enhance our operational capability, improve our training and continue working with other local emergency services, together with Kandos and Gulgong Fire Stations, to provide exceptional emergency services to the people in our community,” he said.
“I am committed to working with our highly trained firefighters to give our community the peace of mind that we are prepared for anything, anytime, to protect the irreplaceable.”
Zone Commander Brett Jackson and Duty Commander Michael Johnstone of Fire and Rescue NSW congratulated Mark, the latter said the appointment would be a beneficial move for the station and also for the local community.
“We are very excited to have Mark joining the station management team here at Mudgee. He brings enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and will be a great asset to the town and his firefighters,” he said.
“Mark brings a wealth of experience with him, having started at Station 342 Kandos, and spending the last nine years at Station 387 Mudgee.”
