Project manager Stuart Black said the facility is now moving into the commissioning phase.
“This marks an important milestone for the development; with mechanical and associated works taking shape, along with live commissioning of the turbines,” he said.
“The connection to the grid represents the commencement of the first large-scale wind farm in the area, contributing to future power generation.”
Mr Black confirmed that turbine installation continues on site with more to be commissioned in coming weeks.
“TransGrid has also successfully completed grid connection works with the substation being energised early in July,” he said,
Depending on the wind speed, each turbine can generate up to 3.4 MW of power, with the wind farm providing enough output to supply power to up to 49,000 homes each year when fully commissioned.
Once completed, the Bodangora Wind Farm will feature 33 turbines generating up to 113.2 MW of power into the electricity network, contributing to Australia meeting its Renewable Energy Target by 2020.
The project commenced construction in June 2017 with turbine delivery and installation works commencing in March 2018.
