Andrew Andrews for ‘The Local’, Real FM, Craig Bassett for ‘The Robie Porter Classic Hour, 2MG and former Real FM presenter Melanni Heldon for ‘Zoo FM turns 21’, Zoo FM, were nominated for the Best Music Special.
‘The Local’ was also up for Best Achievement in Production.
Real FM Breakfast Presenter Andrew Andrews, said they were up against some of the best in the country and that was a big achievement in itself.
“It’s a pretty cool thing for a small radio station to be producing quality stuff and be recognised for it,” he said.
While it was bizarre to be in the same category as co-workers, Andrew said it was definitely a positive for Mudgee.
He was proud that all three radio personalities were in it together.
“At least one of us will walk away with a trophy. We’d rather see a colleague win than the opposition.
Andrew was also extremely proud that ‘The Local’ was nominated in two categories.
“It’s not about me initially, it’s about the muso’s and the quality of the segment that got us in and I think that’s the coolest,” he said.
He also wanted to thank the local musicians who come in and record or perform live on the show.
The 2018 ACRAs will be held October 20 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibit Centre.
