Implementing positive changes such as everyday exercise, drinking more water and eating as healthy as possible could lead to a better way of life.
It can also put you in a better mood!
For some women it might be the case of never getting the chance to head to the gym or make a healthy meal.
You seem to be looking after everyone else but yourself, but ladies it’s time to start putting your health first!
TAFE NSW Head Teacher of Nursing and Health and Enrolled Nurse, Debbie Greenhalgh said the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare revealed alarming statistics about the health of women.
“These results need to be taken seriously,” she said.
“Nearly half of Australia’s population is female and unfortunately this demographic is facing more health struggles than ever before,” she said.
Ms Greenhalgh said a lack of physical activity, obesity, smoking, alcohol consumption, mental health and a number of chronic diseases were impacting how women lead their lives short and long term.
The data released by the institute revealed that less than 46 per cent of women aged 18-64 exercised sufficiently, six in 10 Australian women were overweight or obese, more than 12 per cent of women aged over 18 smoked and three in 10 women consumed excessive alcohol.
“While these statistics are quite alarming, the good news is just by making small changes all women can reverse this trend,” Ms Greenhalgh said.
She also said Women’s Health Week served as a timely reminder for females to start investing in their health and well-being.
“By following a few simple steps, you can create and maintain a healthy lifestyle,” she said.
