A Mudgee Guardian reader who preferred to stay anonymous reported an incident to the police that he saw evidence of burnouts at Flirtation Hill and a kangaroo that looked to have been hit by a car.

He said he went on his regular early morning walk up the hill but was horrified to see the mess around him.
“I usually go and take pictures of the sunrise but I was just so shocked to find this,” he said.
Flirtation Hill is also home to a mob of kangaroos, but unfortunately he found one laying in the dirt.
“It looked like it had been rammed by a 4WD,” he said.
Inspector Mark Fehon from Orana-Mid Western Police District said they were looking into the matter.
“We will be investigating to get to the bottom of this,” he said.
He also ensured there would be more police patrolling the community area.
“It’s something the community don’t expect to see, especially in a well-known public space,” he said.
Inspector Fehon urged anyone with information to come forward and if you are up there and see something report it.
