In the Premier League, the Wolves went down 3 – 1 against Bathurst Panorama.
Bathurst striker Jacob Soetens scored two goals in the opening half to give his side a 2-0 buffer, before Jaiden Culbert slotted home a penalty after half-time.
A goal not long after from the Wolves was not enough to inspire a comeback for the Mudgee side.
On the 55th minute mark, Wolves skipper Adam O’Connell headed a ball towards goal, which came off the side post and into the back of the next.
In the other grades, Wolves Women’s Second Grade put everything they had in a win against Cowra to come out the other side with 3-2 win.
The Mudgee Guardian spoke to the coach of the Women’s side, Mark Spriggs. Though he’s hesitant to claim the title of coach.
“They’re calling me the coach but I’m not really their coach. I’m just the bloke on the sidelines that encourages them,” he said.
“They coach themselves really, and I’ve said before Jess Salomoni she’s been the backbone of the women’s team.”
Jess Salomoni won the Golden Boot award, scoring 37 goals in the season, not only that but she was also awarded best and fairest for the Bathurst competition and reportedly needs to buy a new cabinet for her growing trophy collection.
“It was great! I wasn’t expecting the best and fairest so it was a nice surprise,” Jessica said.
“It was a great welcome back to the club as well.”
Mudgee’s Emma Acroft won Player of the Grand Final.
Mark has nothing but praise for Wolves First Grade coach, Jason Payne and everything he has done this season for the club.
“Jason He’s helped them along, he’s done an outstanding job for the club all year,” he said.
“They (Third Grade) came from outside the top three on the ladder to get through. It was a surprise, they looked like they were down and out at one stage, but they just stuck together and pulled it together in the last few minutes.”
