“Portraits of Kandos Elders” by Mervyn Bishop now hang proudly in the museum thanks to assistance from the NSW Government.
Mr Toole said representations made to the Minister for the Arts Don Harwin results in funding of $1952 being approved to allow the portraits to be framed for display.
“I am proud to have been able to help Kandos Museum with this initiative,” Mr Toole said.
“Funding was allocated through the Volunteer Museum Small Grants Program and this support is for volunteer-initiated community museums and Aboriginal keeping places in NSW.
“Kandos locals and visitors from far and wide should take time out to visit the museum to view these portraits because I know they will receive a warm welcome from museum secretary Fiona McDonald.”
