Ironed Out is a local enterprise service run by the Mid-Western Regional Council, offering employment to people with disabilities.
Supervisor at Ironed Out, Linda Goodman said the enterprise brings joy to those who take pleasure in doing things for others, and now since the relocation, have more room to operate out of.
“It gives the ladies with disabilities a lot of pride. They are very proud of their work,” she said.
“There’s a lot more room, it’s so spacious...it’s easier to operate out of.”
Not only does it benefit the employees, but also the public who struggle to find time to iron.
“People have such busy lives and ironing may be their last priority, so we are doing a great service by doing it for them so they can get more time to do other things,” Ms Goodman said.
Ironed Out now run three services - ironing for the public, fancy dress hire, and a second-hand store.
The second-hand store and fancy dress hire are recent service additions.
A council spokesperson said the expansion of services is of great benefit to current employees.
“The expansion of Ironed Out including the addition of a Fancy Dress Hire Service and the Second Hand Clothing and Bric-a-Brac Shop only provides further opportunities for staff to develop and diversify their skillset.”
“Come and meet some truly wonderful people who work here.”
The Second Hand Clothing and Bric-a-Brac shop has been in operation since May this year, and offers additional employment for people with disabilities.
Currently there are nine ladies employed at Ironed Out, but after a relocation to a more spacious site, employment numbers are said to increase.
“By having the new service, it gives more opportunity for people with disabilities to gain employment, which is great,” Ms Goodman said.
Donations from the public are needed and appreciated for the new service and can be dropped off during opening hours.
Ironed Out is now located at 154 Church Street, Mudgee and is open from 8am - 4pm Monday to Friday.
