Meraki Miss sat back in the pack for the bulk of the run, but surged forward after the 400 metre mark to bolt towards the front.
It was a close call, with the two horses neck-and-neck until the final few metres, where Meraki Miss was able to put nearly half a length between it and Dynamite Dan.
Royal Casino had the second-shortest odds for the 1000 metre race at $5 and came in third, while Arctic Warrior and Stato rounded out the top five over the 1000 metres.
New Zealand mare Showgals made it two from two at Towac Park on Monday as it stormed home in the last 100 metres to justify the short odds as a $2 favourite in the KItchens and Cabinets Benchmark 58 Handicap.
Showgals hauled in second placed Enigami, and was a head behind leading into the last 250 metres before storming away from the Tara and Phillippe Vigouroux-trained bay, who was in its first race after a spell of 27 weeks.
Showgals finished a length ahead of Enigami and over two lengths ahead of third-placed Felicette.
The mare made it two from two at Towac Park after cleaning up at the Orange Cup earlier this year.
Alison Smith’s Missy Rhythmos finished in tenth despite a phenomenal record at Orange – with three firsts and a second from five starts before today – but was unable to break free at the back of the pack.
Meanwhile Brian Gentle continued his bad run on Monday with Dark Force and Ribbon of Choice struck in ninth and last in the 11-horse race.
