At the closing of the day
With all those vibrant colours
Combined with the sun’s last rays
The clouds that gather in the west
And all those colours as they change
From bluish grey to an orangey red
Then they drift away beyond the range.
I feel for the folk in the dull dark city
Who are blinded by the city’s bright gleam
And may never see the beautiful changes
As they move through the different scenes
It is also found in the early morn
When the sky has its mist of light
As the sun climbs the stairs to heaven
And takes with it the fading night.
Have you ever heard the singing of birds
In the early morning’s glow
And seen the dewdrops glisten on a rose
Or heard the old Jacko’s special show
And the sparrows with their chipping song
From their nest where lie their young
Or dear Maggies friendly warbling song
When another bright day has begun.
So now I shall ask you one and all
Please open your eyes and ears
And see what Nature has given us
All this beauty throughout the years
The trees the clouds and the mountains
With the blue skies high above
And the brown rivers flowing to the sea
Yes, she has given us so much to love.
