Earlier this year, Mid-Western Region Council engaged with users of the existing park who provided a ‘wish-list’ for the new facility.
These submissions were incorporated into design concepts that were placed on public exhibition with the community voting on their preferred design.
Mayor of the Mid-Western Region, Des Kennedy said Council received a positive number of submissions from the community towards the project.
“Gulgong Skate Park is a fantastic example of Council and the community working together to achieve a great outcome for the region,” Cr Kennedy said.
“This will be a well-used active space for generations of children and young people to come.”
The new concrete-based park includes half pipe, grind rail and spine.
Shaded seating is due to be installed at the park in coming weeks followed by landscaping in the New Year.
The Skate Park is located on the northern side of the Billy Dunn Park complex which will also soon include an Adventure Playground featuring interactive play equipment, shelters, landscaping, picnic tables, a youth hub with wi-fi. This will be at the school side of the pool.
