Introduce yourself
Ivan Giammarco, Teacher at Mudgee High for physical education.
What is a story that has impacted you as a person and who you are now?
“I have been teaching for 22 years now, and I think that it has definitely impacted who I am now, and the way I bring up my children, with the clientele of students have changed since I have gone to school.”
“Even in my first 10 years of teaching, I see a lot of kids spending more time on devices and not going back to “old school manners” so I have instilled some of that on my children, with reducing device time and still making sure they use their manners and are respecting elders.”

Do you have any words of wisdom for the next generation?
“I always tell my kids to hang around positive people, because if you hang around people who are constantly negative, eventually it will rub off on you. So, if you hang around positive people and have them constantly around you it will make you a better person.”
What are your thoughts on social media and its impact on society?
“There are some positives and negatives of Facebook and that because I get to see what my friends and family are up to, from being away and stuff like that.”
“However the negative side of it is that with our school children, quite often we see the keyboard warriors, calling people names online and causing issues for us so unfortunately we have to get police involved, in those issues for when it is on an unsatisfactory level and so it affects their schooling.”
