“From day one, road safety has been one of my top priorities, and I’m glad to be able to deliver more than $6 million across the electorate to make our roads safer,” Member for Dubbo Troy Grant said.
“Country people make up only a third of NSW’s population but last year deaths on country roads made up nearly 70 per cent of our road toll.
“We’ve seen fatalities on country roads drop by 26 in 2018 compared to 2017 and we are committed to ongoing action that will see this positive turn become a strong downward trend.”
The total investment in the safety programs is $640 million for Saving Lives on Country Roads and $180 million for Liveable and Safe Urban Communities.
Mid-Western Regional projects
Goolma Road, north east of Gardiners Road, Two Mile Flat; install curve alignment markers (CAMs); improve sealed shoulder up to 2.5m on curve; install wire rope barrier on roadside; widen shoulder from 0.5m sealed to over 1m sealed on straight. $100,000.
Hill End Road, between Ullamalla and Windeyer roads; mark road edge lines; install CAMs; install new curve and advisory speed signs; improve sealed shoulder up to 2.5m on curve; install 0.5-2m incremental traversable clearzone; install wire rope barrier on roadside. $100,000.
Castlereagh Highway, Galambine; install wire rope barrier on roadside; improve sealed shoulder up to 2.5m on curve; install CAMs; widen shoulder from 0.5m sealed to over 1m sealed on straight. $780,000.
Castlereagh Highway, Mullamuddy; install wire rope barrier on roadside. $335,000.
Goolma Road, Goolma; improve sealed shoulder up to 2.5m on curve; install CAMs; install full width traversable clearzone. $440,000.
