A report to officers attached to the Orana Mid Western Police District says that an Ilford resident heard gunshots on Tuesday evening.
"On the evening of Tuesday, February 19 a local resident reported gunshots from this location," NSW Police State Rural Crime Co-ordinator Detective Inspector Cameron Whiteside said.
"A flashlight could be seen near the fence line of the property and two male voices were heard.
"Police from Mudgee are asking landholders to be vigilant in the Ilford area, particularly on the Sofala Road in relations to illegal hunters."
Det Insp has called on any residents who have witnessed similar incidents to contact Mudgee Police on 6372 8599.
"We encourage residents in the area to report any suspicious or unlawful behaviour," he said.
