For what first began in the early 90s, the Mudgee Sports Awards has had its fair share of ups and downs with nominations, however for last year’s period, the collection has been one of the biggest to date.
Secretary of Mudgee Sports Council Geoff Robinson says the Sports Awards are a time of recognition and reflection.
“It’s to recognise all of the performances by individuals and teams throughout the 2018 year,” Robinson said.
If somebody does something early in the year by the end, people might have forgotten about it so it’s a good time to remind everyone of the performances and how well they [athletes] did.

This year there have been an approximate number of 70 nominations including Bryce Bollinger (swimming) as the only nomination for the Athlete with a Disability, Mark Hale the only name put down for Team Masters, Carlene Barton the only one for Contribution to Sport Coaching, and Lachie Morse the single nomination for Contribution to Sport Refereeing.
The awards will be handed out on Friday, February 22 at 6.30pm at the Mudgee Golf Club.
