Hale was in incredible form, reeling off an impressive seven birdies in a magnificent display on his way to a six under par 65. His only blemish a lone bogey on the par three 15th.
Hale said accuracy from the tree was the key to his magical score, saying he didn't miss a fairway all day.
"I hit the driver really well. I took it on every hole and didn't miss a fairway."
The condition of the Shoalhaven layout was also a factor in his record-breaking round.
"The greens are schmick. As soon as I hit some putts, I knew it was going in," he said.
"It's a very forgiving game when you're hitting it down the middle all day."
Douglas, likewise, was full of praise for the course, adding the key to her low score was simply to keep the ball in the fairway.
"I am carrying a bad injury and thought I would just bat it around, just keep it in the fairway, hit lots of greens in regulation and try and make a few putts.
"This is a course you need to plot your way around, and it worked out today," she smiled.
