Norman James Daniel, of Cypress Road, Yarrawonga, pleaded guilty to possession of an unauthorised firearm and possession of ammunition without a holding a licence/permit/authority.
The warrant was issued that afternoon and even though police didn't locate him, he was found to be in possession of a .22 calibre bolt-action rifle and ammunition for it.
Five days later Newcastle Police became aware that he'd been discharged from John Hunter Hospital.

A man who stole his neighbour's television, was sentenced to a supervised 12-month Intensive Corrections Order, with a condition that he abstain from drugs and complete rehabilitation.
Benjamin John Clement McAuliffe, aged 39, of Belmore Street, Gulgong, was charged with 'Steal property in dwelling - house'.
On the evening of Friday, June 8, 2018, the victim's keys were returned to them and left in their mailbox.
At about 10am the next morning McAuliffe used the keys to enter the house and take the television, a witness observed him exit the property via the backyard over the fence.
The victim returned home at about 2pm, noticed the item missing and called police.
Officers arrived and when they were speaking with the victim they were approached by the witness.
McAuliffe was arrested and denied the allegation, but changed his story several times.
Police obtained permission to enter his residence and located the televsion in the laundry.
