In a recent media release the Mudgee Chamber of Commerce opposes a new solar farm on the Castlereagh Highway just out of Mudgee. Claiming they don't oppose solar, rather its location and that it will look bad.
In a similar vein, many oppose the Bowden's Silver and Lead Mine at Lue. They don't oppose mining, rather the type of mine, the method of processing, the waste it will produce and its location just 2km from the village of Lue and adjacent to Lawson's Creek that flows directly to Mudgee.
If you can't have a solar farm that looks bad, how can you have an open cut lead mine? operating 24/7 just 2 km from a community, contaminating the land and water around it with lead, cyanide and arsenic.
You might not be able to see it from the highway but is that all that matters these days?
Not all mining is good. Some mining is bad...really bad.
