I recently saw the report on WIN News in which residents and Chamber of Commerce member Andrew Palmer, were complaining about the development of this solar farm on the outskirts of Mudgee.
They stated it's prime agriculture land and it would be an eyesore for people coming into the town. I disagree strongly. What about the eyesore coming into Mudgee via Ulan! A solar farm would be much nicer on the eye than the nuclear wasteland that Moorlarben, YanCoal has created at Ulan.
More Solar Farm coverage:
The residents of Burrundulla obviously have no idea what an eyesore is. They say it will affect their views, lifestyle etc.
They will by no means be affected like the people/communities of Ulan, Wilpinjong and Wollar. They will not be pushed off their land, having to leave behind their home, memories and lifestyle, being forced to start up somewhere else where they don't want to be.
They will not have the heartache of seeing there home and land being blasted to bits and left looking like some kind of nuclear war zone. They, in turn will not have to breathe in coal dust, explosives and chemical gases, neither will their children!
They want another location...where? Some other little village out of town that council can afford to wipe off the map!!
Council and the Chamber of Commerce didn't stand up for the people, farmers or communities of Ulan, Wilpinjong or Wollar. They just let it go ahead.
The outlying farming areas of Mudgee helped make this town, yet they are always treated like second class citizens. It's always only about Mudgee!!
You tell us the mines are good for the 'town,' so how about telling Burrundulla residents and Andrew Palmer the same about this solar farm.
