The centrepiece of the Commercial Hotel Sporting and Business Community Race Day, the headlining Cup Prelude will also be accompanied by a Cup Sprint prelude as well, and both will have opportunities for trainers looking to secure a big win in September.
"It certainly is drawing interest around the region, the winner of this prelude is exempt from balloting out of the cup, so it's a good bonus for them to win, the sprint race winner is also exempt," Turf Club President Vince Gordon said.
"Participants can gain access into the cup and the sprint race which are both very good opportunities."
Six Mudgee native trainers will put their hat in the ring for the Prelude with 17 entries across five races, respectively.
Race one, the Dubbo Bulls FC CG&E Maiden Plate (1110 metres), will see Intermerged run for Gayna Williams, Morotai and One More Poet to gallop for Brett Thompson, Trojan for Bob Howe and Sandstorm for Mack Griffith.
As for race two, East Dubbo Hockey Club F&M Maiden Plate (1110 metres), Are You Dreaming will run for Cameron Crockett, Giovanina for Williams, Smart Lass for Thompson, and Polished Penny for Mark Milton.
Griffith trained, Proud Tradition is the only local runner for Mudgee in race three, Dubbo Kangaroos Rugby Club Maiden Handicap (1410 metres).
Race four, Alex&Ria Digital Communication Benchamrk 58 Handicap (1110 metres) will showcase Escebee running for Milton, Miss Hugo A Gogo and Griffin's Gaze for Williams.
Meanwhile, for the final race of the day, The Commercial Hotel Class 2 Handicap (1410 metres), it's Vineyard who will run for Griffith, Slatey Bay and Moon Over Menah for Thompson, and Thunderzone for Milton.
The first race of the day will jump at 12:45pm.
