Mudgee Public School's (MPS) girls softball team has once again reigned supreme in the NSW PSSA knockout competition.
After taking out first place in the Western region, the MPS students were to play the winner of the North West region, Wee Waa Public School.
On Monday, September 2, the squad made the four hour trip to Wee Waa and they didn't disappoint taking a nerve-racking 10-9 victory.
"It was a very close game," MPS girls softball coach Peter McDonnell said.
Our girls were just so into the game they weren't really aware of the score, they knew it was close but they were ecstatic when they found out.

"Wee Waa just weren't coached as well as our girls luckily have been. They were really good athletes but just didn't know the rules as well as our girls did.
"They even made up their own little song."
When asked what has made his side to progress to such a high level, McDonnell says it has a lot to do with confidence and interest in the sport.
"They've got a good attitude and commitment to the team," he said.
They really enjoy being a part of the team, and it's just an exciting thing for the school.
The students who have been training every Thursday afternoon since term two alongside Mick Boller and parent Katrina Underwood, are now in the semi-final which hosts the four best schools in the state.
With only one student a regular in the local competition and all the others new to the sport, McDonnell says after the level the side have played at, it's likely they will continue on with the sport beyond the knockout.
"I think there's a few girls who are now keen to get involved in it," McDonnell said.
While their next game doesn't tee-up until December 5, the girls are getting ahead.
There is no weakness in our team, they're all really good players.
"We know that our girls are going to be up against some fast pitching so we're going to borrow a pitching machine and have a go at hitting fast pitches.
"This will give them a little more confidence."
