Council is reallocating roads teams to commence unscheduled grading in some areas with soaking overnight rainfall providing ideal conditions for grading.
With the Mid-Western Region being among the worst affected drought areas in NSW, Council has been unable to complete grading of all roads due to the extreme lack of ground moisture necessary to successfully complete the process.
Council's General Manager, Brad Cam said teams will be reallocated from projects including Ulan Road onto unsealed roads to take full advantage of the moisture.
"I think everyone in our region was delighted to wake to the sound of rainfall this morning," Mr Cam said.

"Council understands the condition of some of the region's unsealed roads have deteriorated however we have been restricted in the works we can undertake due to the serious lack of water available.
"This is why we are moving teams off scheduled works and onto our unsealed network immediately. Mudgee has received more than 29 mm since 4.30am this morning (Tuesday 17 September) which is enough to begin grading in some areas."
Due to the reallocation of teams some projects will be postponed including the Ulan Road rehabilitation works.
Motorists are reminded to please always drive to road conditions and follow all signage advisories.
