At an award ceremony on October 30, Daphne along with four others were given lawn bowls' highest honour.
Daphne was inducted into the Bowls Australia Hall of Fame in 2011.
Daphne represented Australia for nine years, won eight Australian titles and represented NSW for 13 years winning nine titles in singles, pairs, triples and fours.
She is also a four-time world champion.
A Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Daphne began playing bowls in 1977 at Club North Haven and despite all her successes she still enjoys heading out on the green with the ladies at North Haven.
"I never went into bowls to win or to go to the Commonwealth Games," Daphne said.
"I wanted to play bowls to have some fun, stay active and have a gossip out on the green.
"I have been all over the world playing bowls and representing my country but I am also proud of the fact I can say I have only ever been a member of one club and that is at North Haven."
Daphne said that despite her many awards, medals and accolades she was over the moon when she was recognised with the legend award.
"When we won Australia's first ever gold medal in the women's bowls it was such a special moment for everyone but this award is very rare," she said.
"It is the highest honour a bowler can get and to know there are only four people alive that are recognised with this and I am one of them is very humbling."
She said that over her many years playing it is the funny moments that she holds most dear.
"When I was coaching the NSW under 18 girls side they thought I was horrible.
"I would take away their mobile phones at night to make sure they were ready for the green each morning.
"We went from losing to winning the championships which was a great feeling for both me and the girls.
"The girls named me the Daphanator at the end of the season and in the end they said they would be sad to leave the team."
President of the North Haven Women's Bowling Club, Joy Allen said the club were incredibly proud of their fellow player Daphne.
"Out of the green Daphne is just one of the girls, playing along and having a laugh," Mrs Allen said.
"Over the years Daphne has travelled all over the world and competed in every competition available but we are just so glad that she loves coming and playing at North Haven each week.
"All the ladies know what Daphne has done but no one is treated differently."
