Similar to the Australia-wide #sharethedignity campaign, where people can donate feminine hygiene products like tampons and pads; Lifeskills is working with Barnardos to help change the lives of men in the region who are homeless or who are at risk of becoming homeless through their 'Blokes Pack' community program.
Suggested donation items are things like deodorant, shavers, soap, a toothbrush and toothpaste and combs.
Paul from Lifeskills said combs are preferable to brushes because 'a comb you can out in your back pocket in case you need it.'
Disability Support Worker, Suava Tanner who is part of the program said they were shocked when Barnardos gave them the numbers on homeless people in the region.
"192 people went through their door in the last financial year and in each case are either people that are homeless or at the crucial time where they were possibly going into being homeless," Suava said.
"So of that 192, one of those could be a whole family. These are cases rather than individuals and there were quite a lot of men,"
"One thing they [Barnardos] said they were struggling with was hygiene items for men because these men are often overwhelmed with what's happening and looking for work and things like and [they aren't] focusing on their hygiene,"
"And obviously that's important when they're going out in the community looking for jobs and things like that."
Suava and her group have teamed up with Mudgee businesses to host drop off buckets where people can leave their donated items.
Among the businesses supporting the cause is Blooms The Chemist who has agreed to match every donation received at their store.
Suava also wanted to thank Image Signs who printed the posters promoting the program for Lifeskills free of charge.
"We're really loving the support. Everyone was straight on board," Suava said.
