Last weekend people flocked to impromptu training workshops provided by local Rural Fire Service volunteers. And yesterday fire fighters from the RFS and Fire and Rescue NSW joined forces in Mudgee's Robertson Park [pictured] to give the steps to be prepared for the threat of a bush fire.
Next Monday (November 25) Mid-Western Regional Council Library is partnering with Cudgegong RFS to host a series of free planning sessions.
Residents will learn how to prepare their own plan, where to find information about fires in the area, and how to prepare their property and family to better survive a bushfire.
Council's General Manager, Brad Cam said these sessions will provide invaluable information.
"Given the devastating bushfires that are currently burning around New South Wales, the timeliness of having a bushfire survival plan in place couldn't be greater,'' Mr Cam said.
"The RFS continues to emphasise how important it is to have a plan in place should your property be effected by fire.
"Taking the time to discuss with your family what you would do during a fire, could save their lives as well as your home."
Two Bushfire Survival Planning Sessions will be held at Mudgee Library on Monday at 2pm and 7pm.
Bookings are essential and can be made by visiting Council's Facebook page.
Deadly fires ravaging northeastern NSW and southeastern Queensland, coupled with forecasts of dangerously hot and windy weather, have stirred interest state-wide in how to prepare in the face of bush fire threats.
