Cementa '19 officially opened in Kandos on Thursday with an exhibition of contemporary art. People filled the old theatre 'The Salon', as they pored over the art works created by some amazing talent.
Cementa is a biannual contemporary arts festival with myriad events held around Kandos.
Some events included:
- Kozie Rogi, by Szymon Dorabialski at Kandos High School basketball court.
- Plein Air Drawing Workshop, with Keith Yap at the Kandos Museum.
- Opening of Salon, an exhibition by local artists at WAYOUT Artspace.
- Exhibition and culture at Lynn Syme Memorial Wiradjuri Cultural Centre.
- Tasting History: Biscuits, Culture and National Identity by Lindsay Kelley at the CWA Hall.
- Performance by Lucas Abela at the Kandos Scout Hall.
- SWIMMING POOL by PYT Fairfield and Tessa Long at the Kandos/Rylstone Pool.
- Cement Blocks by Keg De Souza, an event for kids at the Kandos Scout Hall.
- Welcome to Country, Festival Launch, Performance: Cementa Love Letter hosted by the Motel Sisters, and a band at the Kandos Returned Services Community Club.
- The Cement Bag Dress at the Kandos Museum.
- 'I was on my way to a funeral' by Wart, with Victoria Spence and Phil Downing at St. Laurence Church.
- 'A study for explosive times' by (The Empty Set) Sara Morawetz and Emily Parsons-Lord at Henbury Golf Club.
- Aggregate: fine to coarse ground sounds curated by Gail Priest at Henbury Golf Club.
- Kandos School of Cultural Adaptation Dinner- Forage to Feast's Diego Bonetto and Marnee Fox at the Kandos Community Hall.
Cementa '19 commenced in 2013 and is a cultural experience and a fixture of the town of Kandos.
