And one on the ground. Can you see him?
There's Mum and Dad and all the kids too,
Aunties and uncles and goodness know who.
Is it Dad on the left and Mum on the right,
Or her in the middle jammed in tight?
But hen who id Dad? What there's more than one!
This liberated family sure has fun.
Well, Mum's a cool chick, she's got nothing to hide.
It's natural for her to have a bit on the side.
It's all in the family, the way things are,
But a visit to the neighbours is going too far.
There's no in-breeding, the young take flight
Across the paddock to others in sight,
But this doesn't happen to the spring, you see,
They stay at home where the tucker is free.
Yeah, nine white-winged coughs sitting on a limb,
And one on the ground. Can you see him?
There's Mum and Dad and all the kids too,
Aunties and uncles and goodness knows who.

Spring Awakening
We bowled back the door
in winter's face,
scaled down from the cave,
sun strengthened.
The gurgling in the crevice
rose to a roar in a capsule
as my head cleared the rock
ledge that let in my lips,
drawn to the clean stream.
Dribbling grinning mouthfuls
of new water,
we rolled face up
on the green bank
to laugh at heaven.
