Volunteers from NSW RFS Lawson, Gulgong DC, Moolarben, Clandulla and Cooks Gap brigades, alongside Gulgong Rescue Squad, were called to areas around Gulgong, Goolma and Cooks Gap on Monday afternoon, where trees had been struck by lightning and blown across roads.
Crews worked into the evening at Goolma Road assisting Mid-Western Regional Council clear the roadway following localised flooding.
Prior to Sunday morning, flash flooding had occurred on the Lue Road, which was temporarily closed while debris was cleared.
Furthermore, bare topsoils have been washed into the river, leading to unusually high amounts of sediments in the water, and Council is asking Mudgee and Gulgong residents to limit all non-essential water usage until further notice.
And WaterNSW has chosen to delay the planned water transfer between Windamere Dam to Burrendong Dam, due to good rainfalls in areas that feed into Burrendong's storage.
The storm activity arrived before January is set to end on a hot note with a heatwave passing over the region, low intensity on Tuesday and then Bureau of Meteorology says it will become a severe heatwave from Wednesday to Friday.
