In order to find a winner, unbelievably enough, the six-person ambrose actually came to a count-back. With We Go Lo - John Sheath, Graeme Kurtz, Mitch Scarbrow, Warwick Lawrence, Richard King, Robbie Stuart - who triumphed, from Spiders 'Rocks and Diamonds'.
But the event is more about fun in aid of locally nominated charities. At the dinner, Allan Border said that to him golf is enjoyable - if hard to get the hang of it - and good for cricketers.
"I'm left-handed and back in the day you couldn't get left-handed clubs, so I didn't start playing until I was 19 or 20. So my introduction to golf wasn't smooth sailing, but it's gotten better and now I just enjoy it," he said. "It's a good game for cricketers to play in their off-days, we used to have a golf fanatic as a coach in Bob Simpson and we'd play in the afternoon."
The event once again attracted a whole host of former top-flight rugby league players, but perhaps none felt as at-home on the golf course as Braith Anasta, who since recently retiring has taken to the greens. And he gave a glowing endorsement.
"The condition that the course is in, considering the weather, was immaculate. Myself and Rachael [Lee] have never been to Mudgee before, but we'll be back, it's been amazing," he said.
