The rains started around 2pm in Parkes and at 12.30pm Mudgee, data from the Bureau of Meteorology shows.
And while the rain might have only lasted a couple of hours, all up 5.8 millimetres was recorded in Mudgee, while Parkes received a little more at 9.4mm.
Combined with previous rainfall this month, Parkes has received 33.4mm of rain. The median for February is 57.2mm.
While Mudgee has received 7.4mm. The month's median is 63.1mm.
More rainfall is expected through from Friday until next Wednesday in both towns, with a 60 to 90 per cent chance of rain each day.
