A dozen of Mudgee Indoor Swimming Club athletes will head to the Country Championships this weekend after tremendously successful stints throughout the Western Area and beyond swimming calendar.

In order to progress to such a level, results, times and numbers of entries are calculated and in doing so, Charlotte Wilson, Alastair Neaverson-Smith, Nate Atkinson, Callum Wilson, Tom Hawkins, Imogen Kearins, Edith Keightley, Kelly Constable, Anthea Kearins, Ricky Constable, Chloe McGilvray and Libbie Constable have qualified.
A total of 50 races will be competed in from the group of 12 with Wilson entering 10, followed closely by Neaverson-Smith and Atkinson with eight, Wilson, Hawkins and Imogen Kearins each participating in five, Keightley in three, Kelly Constable in two, and Kearins, McGilvray and Ricky and Libbie Constable in one each.
Mudgee Indoor Swimming Club committee member Guy Atkinson says while the results reflect a degree of application from the swimmers, it was also guidance from their coach that assisted with their achievements.

"Their success has come from their commitment to the sport and numerous hours of structured squad training from coach Mick O'Sullivan...and dedication to training and racing throughout the swim season," he said.
"During the 2019 to 2020 season, O'Sullivan has provided countless hours of coaching to the team as well as attending all swim meets.
"It is outstanding for so many athletes in our small club to gain qualifying times for this championship event."
The athletes will compete in the NSW Country Championships on February 21 and 23 at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, Homebush.
