Council has received funding to complete the loop of shared pathway and cycleway, connecting the Mudgee CBD, across the Cudgegong River through to Glen Willow, and out to the Putta Bucca residential area and Wetlands and around to the Racecourse, returning to the town centre and Lawson Park.

The project will link the current pathway - which currently loops south-west of the netball courts at Glen Willow - to Putta Bucca Road with a new path. Then connect to Putta Bucca Wetlands and north-east to Tinja Lane, around the bend and join the existing path that currently terminates at the intersection with Stockmans Drive.
That existing pathway is established on the eastern end of Putta Bucca Road, the start of Henry Lawson Drive, and along the Ulan Road past the Racecourse and links to Pitts Lane and Glen Willow. And connects to Lawson Park and thus onto the pool, sculpture walk and Walkers Oval.
Funding of $200,000 was received through a grant from Transport for NSW. Which member for the Dubbo electorate, Dugald Saunders, said is to "encourage people to walk and cycle as part of their everyday commute, and as a way of enjoying their local community".
"It's over eight kilometres in total of walking and cycling track and a really exciting project that Mid-Western Regional Council has been a part of," he said.
"These kinds of projects that tie in with other infrastructure mean a lot and this is again another community asset that people can use everyday and enjoy health and well being as part of their lives."
Mayor Des Kennedy added, "this project will enable the construction of around one kilometre of essential infrastructure, including shared pathway facilities and completes an eight kilometre loop that connects commuters with major town hubs".
"The funding will allow cyclists and pedestrians to safely and easily commute, link up with public transport, and generally enjoy being active in Mudgee and surrounding areas," he said.
"People who don't come around here early in the morning would be amazed at how many people are on that path at 6-8am.
"So this will be good, because rather than then having to do a U-y and go back the same way, they can keep going right around Putta Bucca. It would be a good morning's exercise."
Council voted to accept the funding and amend their budget accordingly at their March meeting on Wednesday.
